Over the last few days, it’s been difficult to be on social media anywhere near the Seattle area and not hear about Galacticon 4. As you may know, Friend of Talaria Press, Aaron Douglas was supposed to be a guest at the convention, but for reasons that we won’t get into, the convention cancelled his appearance, along with much of the rest of the cast of the Reimagined Battlestar Galactica.
Being the stand-up guy that he is, Aaron has come upon a way to make the situation up to fans who were deeply disappointed by the losses at the convention: a “Find Chief” Pub Crawl on Friday, July 31.
Aaron will be hanging out with people and have photos to sign, and even a few copies of the Talaria Press Founders Anthology he contributed stories to, Snicker-Snack, Monster Stories to Cower By. The only price he’s asking for pictures or signatures is a donation that will be split between Children’s Hospital Vancouver and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Keep an eye on his Twitter handle @theaarondouglas to find out where he’ll be and when!
We’ll see you there!
** We’ve had an important update to this event we want to fill everyone in on.
Aside from the first part of the schedule which we will post below, Aaron has been receiving questions as to whether people can support the organizations that donations collected during the pub crawl will go to even if they can’t show up in person; ie donate online.
The answer is yes, but… Aaron has asked instead that if you cannot donate in person, for people to donate to the Battle for Savannah & Seattle. If those names sound familiar, they should. These adorable scamps are also the inspiration for fundraising efforts going on during Galacticon, however, as anyone who has ever cared for a gravely ill child can tell you, more support is always, always welcome.
With that said, here is the first portion of the day’s festivities that have been hammered out so far:
Pike Brewing Company 12-2ish
1415 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101 (1st Ave between Pike & Union)
Elephant & Castle 2-4ish
1415 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA (5th Ave between Pike & Union)
EMP – POP Kitchen & Bar 4-6ish
325 5th Avenue N at Seattle Center (5th Ave north of Broad St.)
Further updates will be shared via Aaron’s twitter handle, so definitely keep your eyes on that all day!
